Now into its tenth year, '100% Design' is a showcase for emerging talent from Britain in the fields of product and furniture design. This is the GMC Granite, a new concept car unveiled by GM at the 2010 Detroit Auto Show. Designed to move away from GMC's current range - which is dominated by pick-up trucks and full-size 4x4s - the Granite is much smaller than any GMC currently on sale. Yes, the Granite is just 4097mm long, making it shorter than a Ford Focus or BMW 1-series.

The United Kingdom’s car market is in freefall, CAR has learned. Although official registration figures won’t be released until later this week, we can reveal that retail sales slumped by 45% in November 2008. It’s a crucial metric, retail registrations being actual sales to real people – as opposed to bulk-buy fleet deals to businesses (which are also down).
